A learner who has achieved this programme will be able to perform a variety of operational functions in assisting with the management and maintenance of conservation areas as required by the industry. These functions include control of soil erosion, igniting and fighting wildfires, erecting wildlife fences and creating environmental awareness in the communities neighbouring the area.

A qualified learner will be able to:

  •  Explain the concept and principles of nature conservation broadly.
  • Outline the history of nature conservation.
  • Demonstrate the relevance of nature conservation principles to society.
  • Explain the inter-relatedness within ecosystems.
  • Identify locally scarce plants and animals.
